CONGRATULATIONS LYNETTE!
1. Profession: Project Manager
2. When did you first start training at WOFB and how did you find out about us? February of 2024. My partner referred me to you.
3. Tell us about your sports & fitness background: As a child I was not permitted to play outdoors- that was for boys. I avoided running at all costs. I hated it. As a teen I would sneak out of the house and “borrow” bicycles to ride until I was caught. I wanted to dance ballet but was told due to body type I was not made to dance. So, my mother put me in Flamenco. I had a love hate relationship with it. I danced professionally for over 2 decades. As an adult my son who has autism would only sleep unless I was walking him in a stroller. I walked a lot, then I bought a bike carrier and started pulling him and his sister. When my son was diagnosed with brain cancer his nickname was Ironman. We saw a triathlon called Ironman and he told me to do the race. I told him I did not run, and he told me to start. Needless to say, I started to run and have completed 4 full 140.3 Ironman distances and a few halves.
4. Favorite Exercise (or type of workout): LOVE swimming, cycling, kickboxing and lifting.
5. Least Favorite Exercise: running
6. What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and overall fitness since starting WOFB? Since I had a radical double mastectomy in 2020, I lost the ability to lift. Since starting with WOFB- I can say I am much stronger. My swimming pace has improved, and I am actually running and lifting.
WOW! What an incredible journey! You are a true inspiration, showing us all the power of resilience, dedication, and love. Despite the obstacles you’ve faced—from restrictions on your childhood activities to the immense strength it took to support your son through his challenges—you have persevered and found ways to embrace fitness and push your limits. Your story of overcoming personal and physical setbacks, especially after your mastectomy, is nothing short of remarkable. The strength you’ve gained at WOFB is a testament not only to your physical determination but also to your unwavering spirit. You embody what it means to turn adversity into strength, and we’re so proud to have you as part of our community. Keep inspiring us all!
